FAQ

  • How do I apply for the Teacher Fellowship Initiatives?

You do not need to apply for either Fellowship to be accepted and awarded the money. Once you have been hired by our school district you can email us at blackeducatorinitiative@gmail.com letting us know you have accepted the job. ALL BLACK EDUCATORS HIRED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IN 2023 AUTOMATICALLY QUALIFY FOR ONE OF THE TWO FELLOWSHIPS, DEPENDING ON IF YOU ARE NEW TO COUNTY OR NOT.
First checks are paid on the first day of school!

  • How do I get started?

Check out our district’s open positions here. Apply for the job you want. Once you have been hired, that’s it! You will be rewarded the first installment on the first day of the school year.

  • Why Black Educators?

Extensive research has revealed that Black students who have some exposure to Black educators during their primary and secondary school years have better educational outcomes. Our district currently has 12% black students but only 2% black educators. We aim to bridge that gap.

  • Do I have to live in Monroe County? I currently live in Homestead.

No, you don’t have to live in Monroe County. If you accept a teaching position at one of our schools you will qualify and receive your first payment installation on the first day of the school year.

  • I want to teach in your district, but I do not have my license.

Head over to our school district’s website, they can help you with that!

  • I'm not African American, but I want to teach in your district, do I still qualify for the Fellowships?
