Once you have been hired by our school district you can email us at blackeducatorinitiative@gmail.com letting us know you have accepted the job. ALL BLACK EDUCATORS HIRED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IN 2023 AUTOMATICALLY QUALIFY FOR ONE OF THE TWO FELLOWSHIPS, DEPENDING ON IF YOU ARE NEW TO COUNTY OR NOT.

Extensive research has revealed that Black students who have some exposure to Black educators during their primary and secondary school years have better educational outcomes. Our district currently has 12% black students but only 2% black educators. We aim to bridge that gap.

No, you don’t have to live in Monroe County. If you accept a teaching position at one of our schools you will qualify and receive your first payment installation on the first day of the school year.
